Bridges Before You

Only those who go
before you understand
the time and cost of
spanning the gap and
wading through rivers,
stepping over sharp rocks,
gathering wood and rope and

steel backbones

to build the bridge
that brought you over
to this place
and takes you forward
to the next
mountain top.

Clear Water

My life is stuffed too full.

Stuff on the bottom mashed
in a corner,
Stuff on top still
looking light and fluffy,
unaware that it too will be reduced
to a compacted weight.
I was trying to empty the jar
but everything was stuck
together inside
folded upon itself...
